    The backstory.

I make chicken wings often, especially when we're hosting or watching a game, but oven space is always limited. I wanted teriyaki chicken wings that stayed warm, cooked evenly, and didn't require constant checking. After testing a few versions, this slow cooker method became my go-to because it's reliable and fits real-life schedules.

    They're a must make.

These crock pot teriyaki chicken wings are a must make when you want big flavor without complicated cooking.

    • Perfect for game day. These wings slow cook and stay warm, making them easy to serve straight from the crock pot.
    • Sticky without frying. Thickening the sauce at the end creates sticky teriyaki crockpot chicken wings without needing a fryer.
    • Family-friendly flavor. Teriyaki wings are sweet, savory, and mild, making them a safe win for all ages.
    • Reliable cooking. Wings slow cooker recipes like this one turn out tender every time.

    Let's talk flavor and texture.

These teriyaki chicken wings cook low and slow until the meat is tender and coated in a glossy sauce. Teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, and ground ginger create a balanced sweet-and-savory flavor, while thickening the sauce gives you that classic sticky finish. Finished with sesame seeds, the wings feel hearty and satisfying without being heavy.

    Teriyaki crockpot chicken wings ingredients.

Ingredients needed to make crockpot teriyaki chicken wings on a white marble countertop.

This crockpot teriyaki chicken wings recipe uses simple ingredients that work well in cooker recipes and don't require extra prep.

    • Chicken wings: Drumettes and flats cook evenly and are easy to serve.
    • Teriyaki sauce: Forms the base of the cooker asian-style sauce.
    • Honey: Helps create sticky chicken wings and balances the savory notes.
    • Soy sauce: Adds depth and that familiar chinese chicken flavor.
    • Brown sugar: Boosts the sticky texture and richness of the sauce.
    • Ginger paste: A convenient shortcut that works well in slow cooking.
    • Minced garlic (jarred): Easy to use and mellows nicely during long cook time.
    • Lime juice and zest: Brightens the sauce so it doesn't feel heavy.
    • Cornstarch and water: Thickens the sauce at the end.
    • Sesame seeds and green onions: The finishing touch, along with sliced green onions for color and flavor.

    How to serve it.

Slow cooker teriyaki chicken wings are best served simply so the sauce stays the focus.

    • Serve hot with toothpicks for easy snacking at parties or game day.
    • Pair with steamed rice or fried rice to turn the wings into a casual dinner.
    • Add a side of simple veggies like steamed broccoli or snap peas to balance the richness.
    • Finish with extra sesame seeds and sliced green onions right before serving for fresh flavor and color.

    Kori's tips.

    •  Broil the wings just until lightly browned before slow cooking to add flavor without drying them out.
    • Ginger paste and jarred garlic work especially well here because they mellow as the wings cook.
    • Stir the wings once during cooking if you can so they're evenly coated in sauce.
    • If the sauce thickens more than you like, stir in a splash of water to loosen it before serving.

    Notes

For more helpful hints, substitution ideas, slow cooking tips, and other delicious recipe ideas, check out my post above.
CROCKPOT COOKING TIPS: Every slow cooker heats a little differently, so cooking times can vary. Once you know how your crock pot runs (hotter or cooler), you can adjust as needed. For meats and proteins, always use a thermometer to check doneness — the internal temperature is the most accurate way to know when it’s ready.
TIPS: Ginger paste and jarred garlic keep prep quick and still deliver bold flavor; broiling first adds depth and helps the wings hold their texture during slow cooking.
VARIATIONS: Add chili garlic sauce or sriracha for heat, swap hoisin sauce for teriyaki for deeper sweetness, or finish with a drizzle of sesame oil for extra richness.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Serve straight from the slow cooker with toothpicks for parties, pair with steamed rice and simple veggies for dinner, or broil briefly after cooking for extra sticky edges.
