    The backstory.

I'm always trying to find a meal that doesn't ask much from you. This slow cooker chicken and stuffing recipe is one of those dinners. Just a handful of ingredients come together to create a warm, satisfying meal that feels like classic home cooking without a lot of work.

    It's a must make.

There's a reason slow cooker chicken with stuffing has stood the test of time.

    • Only 4 main ingredients. This recipe keeps things simple while still delivering plenty of flavor.
    • A complete comfort food meal. Tender chicken, savory stuffing, and a rich gravy-like sauce make every bite satisfying.
    • Easy to customize. You can make it a meal in one by adding vegetables or adjust the flavors to fit your family's tastes.
    • Perfect for busy weeknights. Just layer everything in the slow cooker and let it do the heavy lifting.

    Let's talk flavor and texture.

This dish is pure cozy comfort food. The chicken breasts cook up tender and juicy while the stuffing mix absorbs all the flavor from the cream of chicken soup and chicken broth. The result is soft, savory stuffing layered over fork-tender chicken with a creamy sauce that turns into a rich gravy. Every bite is warm, hearty, and exactly the kind of dinner that feels like home.

    What you'll need.

Image of slow cooker chicken and stuffing ingredients.Pin

This crockpot chicken and stuffing proves that a delicious family dinner doesn't need a long ingredient list.

    • Boneless skinless chicken breasts: The star of the recipe. They become tender and flavorful as they slowly cook.
    • Cream of chicken soup: Adds creamy texture and helps create the savory sauce.
    • Low-sodium chicken broth: Keeps everything moist while adding extra chicken flavor.
    • Chicken or herb-flavored stuffing mix: Creates that classic chicken and dressing flavor everyone loves.
    • Frozen green beans (optional): An easy way to make it a meal in one without extra dishes.

For exact ingredient quantities, please see the recipe card below!

How to make crock pot frittata.

This slow cooker chicken with stuffing comes together in just a few simple layers.

    1. Spread some of the soup mixture across the bottom of the slow cooker and arrange the chicken on top.
    2. Add green beans if using, then cover everything with the remaining soup mixture.
    3. Combine the stuffing mix with chicken broth and spoon it evenly over the chicken.
    4. Cover and cook on low until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
    5. Fluff the stuffing into the sauce before serving and season with salt and pepper if needed.

    Make it your way.

Crock pot chicken with stuffing is easy to adapt to what you have on hand or how you want to serve it.

    • Add frozen green beans between the chicken and soup layers for a complete meal.
    • Stir 1 tablespoon cornstarch into the soup mixture if adding vegetables and you'd like a thicker gravy.
    • Use herb-seasoned stuffing mix for extra savory flavor.
    • Drizzle ¼ cup melted butter over the stuffing before serving for an even richer finish.
    • Swap in frozen broccoli florets during the last hour of cooking for another easy vegetable option.
    • Sprinkle fresh parsley over the top before serving for a little color and freshness.

    How to serve it.

Slow cooker chicken and stuffing in a bowl with a spoon.Pin

Slow cooker chicken with stuffing is hearty enough to stand on its own, but a few simple additions can round out the meal.

    • Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
    • Serve alongside steamed broccoli, roasted carrots, or a simple side salad.
    • Spoon everything over mashed potatoes, green if you're in the mood for an extra cozy dinner.
    • Serve over white rice to soak up every bit of that rich gravy.
    • Add warm dinner rolls on the side for a comforting family-style meal.

    Kori's tips.

    • Check the chicken with a meat thermometer - it's done when it reaches 165 degrees F.
    • Use low-sodium broth and soup if possible so you can better control the salt level.
    • If the stuffing looks dry near the end of cooking, gently stir it into the pot juices before serving.
    • Adding frozen green beans is my favorite shortcut for turning this into a full dinner.
    • Chicken breasts can cook faster than expected depending on size, so start checking around the 3-hour mark.
