The backstory.
This one came from my "there's turkey in the fridge and it's cold outside" mood. I wanted something creamy, hearty, and absolutely no-fuss. A bag of frozen corn, some diced potatoes, and leftover sliced turkey later… hello, chowder night. Bonus: it reheats like a dream for tomorrow's lunches.
It's a must make.
Slow cooker turkey corn chowder is comfort in a bowl - simple to make and even easier to love.
- Big flavor, low effort. Pantry spices, chicken broth, and sweet corn build a classic chowder recipe without babysitting the pot.
- Silky and satisfying. Heavy cream (a.k.a. heavy whipping cream) stirred in at the end makes a dreamy, creamy turkey chowder.
- Family favorite. Tender potatoes, juicy turkey, and a gentle, cozy finish that picky eaters gravitate toward.
Let's talk flavor and texture.
Think classic corn chowder - sweet corn and tender potatoes in a creamy broth - then give it a protein boost with leftover turkey. The slow cooker coaxes everything together so the potatoes turn ultra-tender, the corn stays slightly crisp, and the broth becomes luxuriously silky (thanks to whipping cream) without feeling heavy. Every spoonful lands right in the cozy center of comfort food.
What you'll need.

Here are the ingredients you'll need to make this turkey corn chowder slow cooker recipe:
- Leftover turkey: Chopped sliced turkey - white, dark, or a mix - adds hearty, savory depth.
- Potatoes: Yukon gold or russet give body and help thicken as they cook.
- Corn: Frozen or canned (drained) for those sweet pops that make corn chowder…well, corn chowder.
- Onion: Frozen chopped onion for convenience; dried minced onion works in a pinch.
- Chicken broth: Flavorful base that keeps it light before the cream goes in.
- Heavy cream / heavy whipping cream: Stirred in at the end for a smooth, velvety finish.
- Sour cream: adds brightness and creaminess.
- Seasonings: Garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper - simple, reliable, and slow-cooker friendly.

- For thicker chowder, mash a few potato pieces in the crock before adding the cream.
- Season at the end - salt levels vary with broth and leftover turkey.
- Heavy cream goes in last to keep the texture silky (no curdling).
- Short on minutes? Dice potatoes smaller to reduce cook time.
