    Variations

Here are some suggestions for customizing your crock pot apple dump cake:

    • Swap the apple pie filling with your favorite pie fillings such as peach, cherry, mixed berry, or any others!
    • Omit the nuts if preferred or for an allergy.
    • Use a different flavor box cake mix with a different pie filling for a different dump cake. Try a chocolate cake mix and cherry pie filling for a black forest dump cake. So good!

    Slow Cooker Tips

Tip #1 Spray your crockpot with nonstick spray before cooking to prevent sticking. You can also use a crockpot liner to make it easier to clean up afterward.

Tip#2 Don't stir it! Let the cake bake until the end, and serve it as it is. Mixing it up will prevent it from cooking through.

Tip #3 Double the recipe if you need to serve a larger party.

    FAQ's

    How to store it

Let it cool completely and store it in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat in the microwave in 30-second increments until your desired temperature.

Does apple dump cake need to be refrigerated?

Apple dump cake does not need to be refrigerated right away. You can leave it on the counter at room temp for a day or two. I would suggest keeping it in the fridge until ready to eat to prolong its life and prevent molding.

Is dump cake supposed to be runny?

The dump cake is not runny, but the bottom layer is apple pie filling and then is topped with a cake mixture. It honestly comes off more like an apple cobbler with a cake topping instead. Super delicious, moist, and flavorful.
